Members of RA NA Armenia-Poland Friendship Group Meet with Their Polish Colleagues

On June 11, the members of the RA NA Armenia-Poland Friendship Group met with the delegation led by the Head of the Polish-Armenian Parliamentary Group of the Parliament of the Republic of Poland Tadeusz Woźniak in the National Assembly.

The Head of the Friendship Group Vahan Harutyunyan highly assessed the Armenian-Polish centuries-old friendly relations, touching upon the events dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the formation of the Armenian community in Poland. He expressed his gratitude for the ratification of the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement by the Sejm of Poland.

Touching upon the NK problem Vahan Harutyunyan has highlighted the balanced approach of Poland in this issue and has added that the Armenian side sees the settlement of the conflict exclusively through peaceful negotiations.

The members of the Friendship Group touched upon the RA inner-political situation, the reforms being implemented, in this context expressing readiness of cooperating in the exchange of the Polish succeeded experience and its effective use. They also talked about the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and its condemnation: the Armenian side has underlined that it expects the support of Poland in advancing this process.

The necessity of enlivening and deepening of cooperation in different spheres and the implementation of the educational exchange programmes were referred to. The warm attitude of the Polish authorities to the Armenian people and especially to the Polish Armenians was stressed.

Tadeusz Woźniak highlighted the activation of the inter-parliamentary ties and expressing willingness of cooperation. Speaking about the Armenian Genocide, he noted: “The events that occurred more than 100 years ago should be a lesson for us, the politicians, so we can work and prevent such crimes.”

With regards to the activities of the Armenian community in Poland, the Head of the Friendship Group has noted that the Armenians are exemplary citizens and have their contribution to the development of the country, due to which they have enjoyed special privileges.
